How many calories do you burn giving an hour swedish massage?
Im a massage therapy student, and I was wondering on average how many calories I burn giving a "typical" hour swedish massage?
Hi,it’s hard work giving a deep massage isn’t it? And of course it’s going to burn calories, you are walking and using your arms in almost the reverse way of weight lifting, even kissing burns calories!
I found this on a forum for you: http://www.healthypages.net/forum/tm.asp?m=372881
It is an answer to someone asking the same question. It’s answered by someone who wore a heart rate monitor during work (last but one answer). He is a big guy, so you would use less, but in a day it looks like it’s pretty good going!
I also found this calory burning calculator: http://www.self.com/health/activity/calculators/elliptical_trainer
I don’t know how accurate it is though. But, you select the activity (it includes an option for giving a massage), the page refreshes and you then input your height and number of minutes you worked, then hit calculate, and it will tell you
Hope that helps!

What is better a swedish massage or a hot stone massage?
I am 22 and I am deciding between the two massages to help me relax and unwind from an exteremely emotionally stressful time and also help my back and shoulders from tensing up and causing me pain. I am constantly sitting in a very uncomfortable wooden chair so I really need my muscles to relax. Any suggestions of which would be better?
Thanks!
I would go with Hot stone mainly because it is therapeutic. I think it will be right up your alley and it feels very relaxing and healing

Should I get a swedish massage or deep tissue?
I’m 14, and I’m getting my first massage as a gift. I like pressure and I’ve noticed that swedish massages aren’t like that. My cousin however says that deep tissues hurt really badly. Which one should I get?
Deep tissue.
Im a massage therapist, and if at any time it feels like they are going to deep to the point of pain, just tell them to lighten up and they will
(a deep pressure is beneficial, but if they go to deep and it hurts your natural response is to tighten the ares there working and that doesn’t do you any good).
Enjoy it!
what is the difference between Swedish and Californian massages?
Californian massages are given by people with fake orange tans.
And swedish massages are given by fairly light skinned people.

How good does a swedish massage feel?
I have only gotten the aromatherapy massages but my husband got me a swedish massage. Is it a rough massage or does it hurt? Should I trade it in for the aromatherapy or should I not pass this up?
i don’t know what aromatherapy massages feel like but the swedish feel soooo good! omg. they are so relaxing you should try it. they ask you how much pressure you want so it shouldn’t hurt. on me, i had a knot on my back and i told her to try to relax it out so it did kinda hurt but it felt good at the same time. if you dont want much pressure then you let them know beforehand and there should be no problem. get it and you will be thankfull. sooo relaxing.
