I’ve dislocated my knee (again). It’s fine really, it’s just really unstable. I can’t afford physio at the moment and Medicare won’t cover it. Can I use my mini massager thingy on my knee? Will it help the swelling even a tiny bit?

They don’t do massages for dislocated knees…I’ve never even heard of that helping the swelling if anything I would think it would make it worse as it increases blood flow. Start doing some exercises (sounds like you have done them before) then ice 20 mins then heat for 15mins.

You will need to go to an optometrist and get a fitting and prescription, even if the prescription is 0. You need to call in advance and make sure they stock what you need. Most chain stores like Eyeglass World and even Wal-Mart vision centers carry some novelty contacts.

I have an approximately 1 and 1/2 year old Border Collie/Mini Aussie that I got about 6 months ago. She’s a wonderfully behaved dog and incredibly intelligent and I’ve had very few problems with her. I’m training her for very low level service work for myself (mostly in house retreival-which is pretty much a normal dog "trick" anyway) because I’m ill with chronic fatigue immune dysfunction syndrome.

I know some of you are already thinking about the exercise factor but I live across the street from a dog park where she can run as much as she wants and I take her on daily walks (unless I’m homebound due to CFIDS for a bit, then I have ways to get her to run in the house.) She also has a 22 foot retractable leash and when I walk her I’ll direct her to run one way then the other repeatedly so she can get worn out while I don’t. She also gets tons of mental stimulation and is always visiting new places and learning new things.

Anyway, I’m having a problem with her starting to chew things that aren’t her’s.

She has a wide range of stuffed toys (I periodically hide some then bring them back out so she doesn’t get bored, in addition to buying her a new one everytime a nice one goes on clearence for 2$ or less.) She also has a couple cow hooves and I give her different kinds of rawhide to make sure she always has something to chew on. She doesn’t like kongs or similair toys.

She understands that her toys, rawhides, and treats belong in her beds and that she’s not ever allowed to touch anything I say "Not yours!" about (my adaptation of leave it, except it means forever.) She never chews on anything that doesn’t belong to her while anyone is watching her but she always acts guilty and scared when she sees people after she’s chewed something up.

One week she chewed up a couple shirts and a heating pad months ago and I thought that maybe I had left them too close to her bed, but lately she’s started chewing shoestrings and ELECTRICAL CORDS. I’m so afraid that she could electrecute herself!

I’ve never caught her chewing things up but I’ve punished her when I found the chewed objects because she acted extremely guilty everytime and she never does it around anyone, so she obviously understands that it’s wrong.

We’ve had a great week, she’s had plenty of time to run, we’ve gone on long walks, she’s gone with my boyfriend and I to a petstore and a friend’s house- yet I woke up today to find the cord of my expensive home massager chewed all the way through.

I have no idea what to do. I’m going to spray bitter apple on all cords in the house but because I’m disabled (I’m training her to fetch meds and I don’t have the ability to "dog proof" my whole house) I feel she really needs to understand that her chewing behavior is not at all okay.

Any ideas?

The dog is 1 and a half years old. She should still be in a crate when you can’t give her direct supervision. She should NEVER be out of your eyesight when she’s outside of her crate. 1 and a half year old dogs chew, I tell my customers if you leave your dog out of the crate unattended before 2 years of age? Don’t be angry when your dog chews up your furniture or requires medical attention because it’s your fault.

my mom has 3 mini chiuauas. technically my mom has 1 (lil man) and he was studded out and out of each litter she got one of his puppies my older bro got one (baby girl) she is ALwAYS chewing stuff up!! she ruins everything!!! ive had to replace my laptop charger twice!! my cell phone charger! oh once she ate a 20 dollar bill!! oh and my moms back massager she chewed through that big cord! and then there is the spoiled lil fatty! (tinkerbell) she is spoiled rotten….well they r always barking and snappin at people that pull up in the driveway or come in the house they never stop! they just bark and bark constantly i hate it…personaly I hate them but they r my moms..They go to the bathroom whereever they want..like downstairs in my room on my bed……Ugh! i need help how can I make babygirl quit eating everythng and how could i make them stop barking or at least mind me when I tell them to stop or shutup

First of all, there is NO SUCH THING as a mini, micro, teacup or pocket size Chihuahua!
This is what you get, when you spoil your dogs rotten and you don’t take the time to properly train them, socialize them and make sure they get lot’s of exercise. That’s why they don’t listen, get into things and tear them up and they snap at people. How many times are these dog walked a day? They aren’t just going to figure out what they are allowed and not allowed to do, you have to teach them. You have to set limits! It’s not the dogs fault! It’s the owners fault. I have #15 Chihuahuas and I started training them and socializing them, when they were very young. They have never been aggressive or bitten anyone. They have never snapped at anyone! They don’t chew things up, they all have great temperaments, they all get along with each other, they get plenty of exercise, they are Not spoiled rotten, and they do Not bark excessively. They are very well behaved, they are very friendly, love being around other people, kids (Always Supervised) and other animals! If you can’t train the dogs yourself, then hire a professional trainer. It has nothing to do with the dogs! It all has to do with the way the owner brings their dogs up!

During Christmas time, I work very hard shopping around to get gifts for all my relatives. While I can’t be 100% sure if they like the gifts or not, the fact of the matter is I worked hard shopping around to find something that I believe they would like and would have use for. Whenever we spend Christmas time at my aunt’s house, everyone gets packaged gifts except me. Last year, my uncle got a DVD player, a mini vacuum cleaner, and a can of peanuts. My mom and dad got a bottle of wine, a massager for a chair, and a can of cookies. But me, all I got were envelopes with money in it.

While I’m sure a lot of people LOVE to get money, I’m not like that. It’s not how much a gift is, it’s the thought that counts. Sticking dollar bills in an envelope shows absolutely no thought or effort whatsoever. To me, it’s like saying “Screw this! I’m not going to bother spending time shopping for this guy. I’ll just give him money.” You know why I think that? It’s because that’s what I think when I decide to give people money instead of packaged gifts. I usually give money to people such as the super and security guard in my building. I try to show them a little appreciation for their hard work by giving them a gift even though I don’t have to, but at the same time, I don’t want to be bothered shopping for them. So, I just give them money. But my relatives, I don’t do that because they’re special. For them, I spend the extra time and effort to shop for something that I feel that they may like.

So why is it that as I get older, people love to give me money instead of a packaged gifts for Christmas? Don’t they realize that there’s more thrill to Christmas time when you have a package to open up?
Followup- Can’t figure out what to get me?? Oh please! A box of chocolate? A sweater? A 2011 calendar? A Christmas ornament? Some snack to eat like a box of Oreos or something??

Anything that shows some kind of thought. Geez! It’s not rocket science. There is ALWAYS something you can get someone that can please anybody….even if it’s something small. I’d take a box of Oreo cookies over $50 cash any day. At least it shows some thought and effort.

I also hate giving money. Sometimes people just think it’s easier since the older you get, the less you might Communicate with each other and they wouldn’t know what you like. I LOVE buying presents. And I also like receiving them! The best part is wrapping them. It is just easier for some people because they procrastinate and have to do something last minute. I don’t mind getting money. Some people also give money because if they aren’t 100% sure if you will like it they give you money because you can buy whatever you want with money.

my 3 year old daughter is playing with one of those mini back massagers (the pink one) and got really quiet in her room…… I came up stairs to find her sitting on her bed….I asked her what she is doing…..and she said I am putting my little doggie on my (vagina) ….she called it a little doggie because it vibrates and moves on the floor…..
so what should I say to her…… I kinda just said oh? thats ok….and asked her to turn it off so the batteries don’t die…… OH MY MY…. what would you say??? I know its ok and normal for her to do this….. but?

Lol. I would just tell her "silly, that’s used for your back. Here let me show you!" I would just be very nonchalant about the whole thing and act like it’s no big deal. Like you said you know it’s normal and okay, so nothing to be too worried about:)

My son liked walking around in my high heel shoes because they make him so "big, tall and awesome". God. I didn’t want to be like "you can’t wear those, those are girl shoes" so I just told him his feet are too small and he could fall and hurt himself. No issues with my shoes again:)

My daughter at around 18 months would constantly "tickle, tickle" her girl parts. I know normal and she is exploring but it was constant and she was in big girl underpants so easy for her to access and quite embarrassing in the store when she did. I started tickle, tickling her underarms and would laughing and so on she finally stopped with the girl parts and was onto to the underarms:) Redirection is wonderful!

After you run the ad I use the free advertising places and most chiropractors know where they are.I am a nurse of 33 yrs and have recieved from a spa in a nearby city a massage every week when possible.Beauty salons have information.They tend to know everyones business.Go to some on a friday and at the 1st of the month and the 15th of the month as these are predominantly paydays.
Don’t stop there.I went to nautilus and ask all the workers and people around.I posted ads everywhere i could on index cards mark them in orange, or red thats the first color seen by the eye.Sometimes i use a paper under the ad putting your phone number on it space them less than an inch and write it with ink, cut it so people can just tear it off.You know your terminology well but most dont so say massage needed. Thats all. some work from their homes and thats ok with me.I always ask for references through.it s ok to ask for these and any spas can get you one but at twice the price, so get the numbers and then go to their home, or they to yours.

Okay, so I used a vibrator which had very strong vibrations. I didn’t have a vibrator because I’m still not old enough, so I used my vibrating mini-back massager.
