Most all people love a great a foot massage. It is a gentle, non-invasive way that relaxes the body and mind. And since most of us are always “on our feet” throughout the day, it is especially pleasurable to give some attention to this area of our body.

But, did you know that the feet contain thousands of nerve endings which correspond to every organ and part of the body? Yes, that’s right, each part of the foot has its relative reflex point. By working these points you stimulate energy through nerve pathways to the specific corresponding regions. This facilitates the break down any build up of tension in these areas, helping the body to relax and heal any imbalance. So, for example, working the inner edge of the foot from top to bottom is relative to working down the spine from the neck to the lower back. In addition, each organ has its reflex counterpart, that can be view best on a “foot reflexology chart”.

This form of therapy was first introduced to the West in the 1930’s by Eunice Ingham, who refined ancient Egyptian and Chinese reflexology into this specific system.

I’m 37.5 weeks pregnant. Today I went and got a foot massage. The lady who massaged me asked if I was ready to have my baby (to which, of course, I said yes) so she said she would pay special attention to the labor inducing pressure points. I’m curious: does this really work? I’m 3cm dialated, it’d be awesome if it did work!

I’ve heard acupressure works…If your body is ready. Nothing will work, if your body isn’t ready.
There are a lot of videos on YouTube about it. Look up Acupressure to induce labor. There are points in your hands, neck, back, feet, and legs…

On the inside of the ankle, right above the heel but below the ankle bone you’ll find a small depression. This is the secondary access reflex point for the ovaries, vaginal vault and uterus. You want to roll your thumb firmly in this depression.
On your hand, below the end of your thumb, right where your wrist begins, is a much larger depression. Same thing.
Always do both sides (left and right foot/hand).
